The lineup for Donald Trump’s inauguration is, in a word, terrible. The event really hit rock bottom when the Bruce Springsteen cover band ungracefully bowed out, leaving just Toby Keith, 3 Doors Down, a handful of the Rockettes and some other people you’ve literally never heard of. The lackluster lineup begs the question: why didn’t Donald Trump just ask his good pal Kanye West to perform?
Here’s why: Kanye isn’t “traditionally American” enough. No, seriously. The President of the Inauguration Committee, Tom Barrack, told CNN that Trump’s inauguration simply isn’t a “fitting” venue for Kanye. “He’s been great, he considers himself a friend of the president-elect, but it’s not the venue,” he says. “It’s going to be typically and traditionally American, and Kanye is a great guy, we just haven’t asked him to perform. And we move on with our agenda.”
Kanye West is the self-proclaimed center of the universe. He is the human embodiment of over-consumption. What could be more American than Kanye?!
