As a cretinous misanthrope who lives only to tear things down and hasn’t known joy for a decade, I went into this new video for “Love Never Felt So Good” from Justin Timberlake, and Michael Jesus H Christ Mother Fucking Jackson like a cartoon wolf with a tablecloth tied around my neck holding an oversized fork and knife. FEED ME HATE. But, shit, I have to report that it’s a lot of fun. I’d be lying if I didn’t say that hearing MJ’s vocals kick in didn’t instantly imbue me with a sense of warmth and nostalgia. The rest of the breezy, disco track sounds exactly like you’d expect a Justin Timberlake song to sound — in other words, a Michael Jackson song.
The video cuts old footage of MJ together with the type of multicultural youths you’d expect to see breakdancing about a cheeseburger in a McDonald’s commercial or something, but who cares, I’m not even going to dwell on that for now. The song is too much fun.
“Love Never Felt So Good” comes from XSCAPE, an album of songs that Jackson was working on before his death in 2009.
