With a collection inspired by “lightness, comfort, agility and color,” Julia Haart has created shoes that she describes as “jewelry for your feet.” Haart explains, “when designing the SS15 collection, I was inspired by my spring and summer activities and the shoes, and thereby silhouettes, that would make the perfect accessory to each scenario I may find myself.”
And not only for herself, but for all ladies during the popsicle-eating, sunscreen-wearing, Phoebe Cates slow-motion-pool-exit type months.
She made the Demi Twist slingback for a night out with the girls, the XXX sneaker for a bike ride through the city, and the Molten sandal for a romantic moonlit dinner in the South of France. And while my summer consisted more of nights inside watching Netflix, this collection inspires us to carpe diem for next year.
The shoes are made from the rarest and most luxurious materials, involving a meticulous handmade construction process, which makes these shoes feel like they are one-of-a-kind. Don’t fret about her styles of the past; while this season brings many new styles, she has not forgotten many of her best-sellers from prior collections such as Twist and Stacked Coins.
She also has a shoe called Rock that just might blow my mind, “Rock undergoes a specialized process of slicing solid granite to the thinness of a sheet of paper, then treated so malleable it is wrapped around the wedge.” Um WHAT. Apparently each shoe is completely unique due to the natural veins of the stone and they are as light as a feather…these sound to me like shoes literally out of a Fraggle Rock-dream.
