Johnny Depp Will Play Edward Scissorhands on ‘Family Guy’

I wager Johnny Depp probably hasn’t tried to fit into his leather getup from Edward Scissorhands in quite some time, simply because the years haven’t been that charitable to his physique. Thankfully, animation doesn’t concern itself so much with real world properties: In an upcoming episode of Family Guy, Depp will reprise the role of Edward for one of the show’s signature cutaway gags. (Probably something like, “I haven’t seen a sexual mishap this bad since Edward Scissorhands tried to masturbate.” You know, a subtle joke.) Despite the fact that Scissorhands came out over twenty years ago, Depp didn’t have much trouble getting back into the goth state of mind. “When he was in the booth, he said that he felt like he hadn’t done that voice since he did it in front of the camera,” a Family Guy producer told Entertainment Weekly. “He was able to snap right back into Edward Scissorhands once we pulled up a clip from the movie.” It’s not the first time an actor has returned to a famous role, either, but I wager this will get a bit more attention. The new season of Family Guy kicks off on September 30.
