I didn’t watch AMC’s The Killing, because why would I do that to myself (“Who shot Rosie Larson?” “Okay it was this guy.” “Wait it wasn’t that guy, so that whole first season was just 13 episodes of dicking with the audience?”), but one thing the show did was introduce Swedish actor Joel Kinnaman to American audiences. Kinnaman is known in Sweden for starring in Easy Money, a Swedish crime movie that’s being released stateside with Martin Scorcese’s stamp of approval and which might even see a remake from Warner Bros. This, as well as starring in the 2013 remake of Robocop alongside Samuel L Jackson, Gary Oldman and Hugh Laurie means that Kinnaman’s star is definitely on the rise, so it’s a great time for H&M to tap their countryman for their Fall/Winter 2012 ad campaign. You’ll remember that for womenswear in the same season they tapped American songstress Lana Del Rey, but she and Kinnaman both share an icy, Nordic aloofness, so it’s a pair that makes sense. Look out also for a Jonas Akerlund-directed commercial featuring Kinnaman, and maybe Bono too, since Jonas Akerlund isn’t technically allowed to direct anything that’s not a U2 video.
