Proving that it apparently takes a lot longer than you might think for middle of the road indie hit to sloosh its way down the waterslide of musical diarrhea into the ‘hip hop community’, this week saw the release of two new versions of Foster the People’s “Pumped Up Kicks” — one from an exciting young upstart in the genre with a respected hip hop pedigree, and the other from A$AP Rocky.

Both artists, known primarily for their ubiquity on the skizophrenic, epilepsy-inducing Tumblrs of teenage girls throughout the world, deliver a laid-back flow that meshes well with the California skate bro chill vibes of the original beat and bass line.  Rocky’s offering (via) is slightly edging Smith’s (via) in the DGAF scoring category. Seems like Smith was trying a little too hard here, said everyone about everything he’ll ever be in.

Still though, can’t wait til next year when both these bros surprise us with their long-awaited Gotye-inspired mixtapes.

Who did it better? Tell us in the comments. Just kidding, no one wins here.
