Back in 2008, When Palin and McCain were running mates for the presidential election, all of your friends (and maybe you) were ready to pack up and move to Canada (if not further) in case the unmentionable happened. Fast forward to 2012 and we’ve got Mitt Romney — we cannot help but wonder what those friends are planning now. Yet, just in time for the hype surrounding the 2012 presidential elections, HBO‘s Sarah Palin-themed made-for-TV drama, Game Change (adapted from Time political analyst Mark Halperin‘s 2010 book of the same name) will start on March 10, and we can’t wait. With Ed Harris as John McCain, and Julianne Moore as Dame Palin herself, the only casting choice that would make this project closer to perfect would be (as you already know), seeing our favorite Palin impersonator of all time, Tina Fey in the role rather than Moore. But then, that is probably what everyone is blurbing to Casting Director Kathleen Chopin nowadays. Featuring a Best-of-Palin compilation (or ‘Sh*t Sarah Palin Says’, as far as the vernacular du jour goes) that includes thought-provoking lines (such as “the difference between a hockey mom and a pitbull? Lipstick.”) in its fast paced trailer, Game Change does indeed look promising. Is it a cryptic, George Santayana-infused those-who-cannot-learn-from-history-are-doomed-to-repeat-it message for the supporters of the Tea Party? With the number of Republicans and Libertarians in the present picture, will America ever become something like the horrendous narrative in Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale? These questions all remain to be answered.
