Has art outgrown the need to be hung on a museum wall to be considered important?
I actually prefer a museum or gallery for my painting work. I don’t really put many of my paintings online. If anything, I’ll post details of paintings on Twitter or Instagram, but I stopped putting them up on an official site because I actually don’t think that’s where they live the best. I do post all of my GIFs and videos online, because the Internet is where they need to be to breathe and be alive. They’re two very different sides of my work that have their own ways of living and, for the most part, I prefer tangible work to be viewed IRL and Internet work to be viewed on the Internet.
If you could be anyone else for a day, who would it be?
I’d like to be the president (not necessarily our current president, just an American president in general) and only for one day, so I don’t get gray hair and stress wrinkles.
Do you ever feel trapped by social media?
Never. If I did, I would stop.
How do you feel about cone bras?
From what I understand, it’s appropriation without the permission to appropriate. But I don’t think many people who appropriate get permission, otherwise that would be more like collaboration? I don’t really know what it is, but I know I do it.
