While the world was busy tweeting about Kanye West’s new Ugg Boot X Collab or searching #NYFW for inspiration, musician David Pajo sent out a crushing cry for help via his personal website. With one of the deepest resumes in indie music, Pajo’s work with Slint was enough make him a legend to post-rock fans, but he’s had a long, productive career touring with and contributing to Tortoise, Will Oldham, The For Carnation, Stereolab, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Interpol as well.
Pajo’s suicide note has been taken down, but a blog called Pink Hollers has it reposted in its chilling entirety. Luckily, people on Instagram, Reddit, and Steve Albini’s Electrical Audio message board moved quickly and alerted the police to Pajo’s plea for help.
EMT’s got there in time to save Pajo’s life, and as of 9:30 this morning he was recovering in the hospital as per his mother. Sure, message boards can be weird, but thankfully for Pajo and his family, his fans took this note seriously and intervened quickly.
Pajo posted the pic below just an hour ago on Instgram, giving the thumbs up.
