It’s been almost 25 years since Stephen King published the first in his The Dark Tower series of books, and almost ever since people have been arguing about over how to adapt it to film. Today King confirmed that the beleaguered production finally has its stars settled, in the form of Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey. The duo will play the gunslinger and the man in black respectively.

“The thing is, it’s been a looong trip from the books to the film,” King told EW. “When you think about it, I started these stories as a senior in college, sitting in a little shitty cabin beside the river in Maine, and finally this thing is actually in pre-production now….I’m delighted, and I’m a little bit surprised.”
Sounds like a lot of us right now.
