I know all of you are way turned up for the new season of Arrested Development, but here’s a promo photo courtesy of Entertainment Weekly‘s current cover story that’s positively effulgent with good vibes. It depicts the Bluth family styled in French pre-Revolutionary garb, looking older than the last time we exited their hijinks. (But not too much older—thankfully, Michael Cera shaved that mustache.) In addition to detailing the reunion, EW also revealed a contest in which six super-fans will get walk-on roles in the new season, if they prove their devotion via creation of AD-related art.
But first, the promo photo. Does it evince something about the new season’s direction? Judging by everyone’s serious demeanor (excepting Tobias), maybe it’s a murder mystery in which a member of the family is killed… by a member of the family.
OR: Season 4 is a Cloud Atlas-styled interlocking narrative in which we discover that every member of the Bluth family has existed in previous eras, and is destined to see their turmoils play out through history again and again.
OR: The Bluths are offered back their family fortune should they be able to live olden-styled in a Versailles-type mansion for one year, replete with 18th century technology and hygienic standards.
OR: It’s just a great promo photo that should only ratchet up excitement for AD‘s return, in case you weren’t already stoked. Yeah, that’s probably it.
(Also, here’s a bonus photo via Tumblr. Everything is great!)
