Huey Lewis Stars in Awesomely Meta ‘American Psycho’ Parody

+

You’ve seen American Psycho, perhaps, and thus remember the film’s arguably most iconic scene: The one where Patrick Bateman goes on a rant-monologue about Huey Lewis and the News right before he sinks an axe into Paul Allen’s head. Now, on the 30th anniversary of Huey Lewis and the News’ Sports, an album your mom probably owns on vinyl (hell, mine does), comes a perfect, perfect way to gin up enthusiasm: A Funny or Die video in which Lewis himself replaces Christian Bale in the Bateman role and Weird Al Yankovic takes over Jared Leto’s Allen.

Instead of Bateman ranting about Lewis and his musical worth, it’s Lewis ranting about Bateman and how seminal American Psycho was, all while preparing to get murderous with Al (who parodied one of his songs years ago). It’s bizarre but hilarious by the time Lewis reaches for a prescription bottle that reads “New Drug,” even if he doesn’t lend the same enthusiastically manic air to his lines that Bale did—but hey, not everyone is an Oscar-winning actor. Well played, Lewis. Get those viral clicks, you deserve them.
