This Case Is Going to Get Weird: Watch Kidnap Suspect’s Daughter on ‘America’s Most Wanted’

+

Gina DeJesus, one of the women discovered yesterday in Cleveland after having been held against her will, was last seen in 2004. The last person to see her? Arlene Castro, her best friend. Makes sense, of course, until you realize that that’s the daughter of the man suspected to have held DeJesus and two other women in captivity, Ariel Castro, as shown here in this clip of “America’s Most Wanted” from 2005. (via Slate).

As they also reported, the suspect’s son, also named Ariel, wrote an article in  the Plain Press around the time of DeJsus’ kidnapping about the case. Read more about it here.

So, to recap, we’ve got three women missing for a decade, and apparently held by a local bus driver, whose daughter was giving interviews about the case on TV and whose son was writing articles about it. This is either the most dastardly criminal family trolling ever, or a sad case of a kidnapper so devious he even had the people living under his own roof fooled. Not sure which is sadder.
