In case you needed yet another reminder why you should never ever under any circumstances go in the water or leave your house for any reason, here’s some stunning footage of a seal narrowly escaping the gaping maw of a great white shark. In mid air. Twice.
The video, titled “White Shark 0, Seal 1” was taken by Greg Skomal of Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries off the coast of Cape Cod, not far from where I live and would normally go in the ocean before I got woke to shit like this happening down there.
“The escape was incredible to witness. We’ve seen three predations over the last two years and this was a first — to watch a white shark leap from the water in an attempt to grab a grey seal. The seal won that battle but shortly after the same shark successfully consumed a different seal further offshore,” Cynthia Wigren, president of the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, via the Boston Globe.
