Just when we thought Kanye West couldn’t permeate every last element of our lives any further, he goes and makes a video game. But what differentiates Only One from other West projects is that this one doesn’t focus on himself, but rather his late mother, Donda.
West first teased the game earlier this year at Kanyefest at Madison Square Garden (more formally known as the Yeezy Season 3 presentation), and today at E3 (which, for non-nerds, is the world’s most important gaming conference) he dropped the first official trailer:
It appears as though the game focuses on flying Donda to heaven on the back of a Pegasus, which is a fairly intimate, peculiar and super Christian premise for a video game, but the animation is super beautiful and let’s face it, it’s a pretty moving idea. Until we see the gameplay, it’s hard to say if this thing will be any good, but one can already foresee the lineups and hear the echoes of online haters.
