While the 1990 TV adaptation of Stephen King’s It isn’t quite so fondly remembered in terms of, you know, quality, one thing we can all agree is that Tim Curry’s Pennywise the Clown was scary as all hell and haunted our dreams forever.
Whether or not Andrés Muschietti’s upcoming remake will deliver the goods, and the good, is unclear, but this first look at Bill Skarsgård as child-devouring clown is a promising start.
“It’s such an extreme character. Inhumane,” Skarsgård tells EW. “It’s beyond even a sociopath, because he’s not even human. He’s not even a clown. I’m playing just one of the beings It creates.”
