“Reaper” is the latest track from Sia’s This Is Acting, out January 29. Like all the songs on the album, the track was originally written for someone else, in this case by Kanye for Rihanna. The rest of the words in this blog post don’t matter. Music writing doesn’t matter. Nothing matters. Listen to the song by the famous singer Sia that was written and produced by the other famous music human Kanye West. Is it good? I bet it’s good, knowing these two, whom we all love and like to know about and listen to when they sing. I wonder if I got this post up in time to still siphon off some of the traffic from other sites that are posting it right now? The fact that I’m even taking a few minutes to write this cursory paragraph to go with the YouTube embed has actually put us at a disadvantage here, as dozens of others are hitting publish as I write. When I was a kid I wanted to be a music journalist. I basically ended up fulfilling that dream for years, thinking and writing seriously about music, but that seems like a long time ago now. I remember seeing a piece of music writing I worked my hardest on appearing in print and being excited about that. Sharing my true love, music, with readers. It was a good feeling.
