Already sick of Adele’s “Hello” and all the memes, mash-ups and covers that came along with it? Fear not, for another Adele power ballad sure to warm your hearts and bring tears to your eyes is coming in its wake.
This nostalgia-inducing gem, which the singer describes as an “Elton John-ish ballad” (we’ll only allow Adele to make such a bold claim) is called “When We Were Young” and it seems to manage to show off her pipes even better than “Hello,” if that’s humanly possible. Not only is it her favorite song off the album, it’s also partially inspired by the Barbara Streisand/Robert Redford classic The Way We Were.
You can catch about a minute of the track in the second half of this promo for a forthcoming interview with 60 Minutes Australia. You can also just watch the whole promo, because it features a lot of Adele’s charmingly awful laugh.

Leave it to Adele to make the saddest “not sad” album ever.
