Nelle Harper Lee, the author of To Kill a Mockingbird has died at the age of 89. Lee died in home in Monroeville, Alabama, where she was born, and whose tense race relations when she was a child inspired her masterpiece.

The beloved, Pulitzer Prize-winning 1960 novel, a book that has been taught in schools to every generation since, and definitely had no sequels to it published in recent years, also inspired an equally cherished Academy Award-wining film starring Gregory Peck.
