The Black Keys have already racked up almost 4 million views for the video to “Gold On The Ceiling,” off their recent El Camino album. But nothing celebrates a high like aiming straight for the bottom, which is why the band released a Harmony Korine-directed clip for the same song, one that dresses Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney in adult baby costumes to bop around a desolate suburban estate. Just as well, the video’s got Korine’s trademark VHS-quality sheen, along with the slightly macabre atmosphere that permeates his films. (If you didn’t notice, those are giant masks of Auerbach and Carney being worn by their companions.) Korine’s “meth chic” style, as one Vulture commenter calls it, may not be the freshest trick in the book, but it’s still undeniably unsettling. I expect there will be plenty of GIFs cobbled from the video’s glitchy rhythm to be found on Tumblr within the next 24 hours.
