Grimes Teases New ‘Venus Fly’ Video Featuring Janelle Monae (Watch)

+

UPDATE: Grimes released her new “Venus Fly” video featuring Janelle Monae via Tidal at noon. The sci-fi music video is a post-apocalyptic fantasy with space creatures, samurais and sexy costumes.

You can watch it, here.

After already releasing 7 music videos for tracks on her last album, Art Angels, Grimes is back with another vid. “Venus Fly” featuring Janelle Monae, is a surrealist sci-fantasy directed and produced by the singer herself. Dropping tomorrow via Tidal, Grimes took to Instagram to give us a little preview.

“Sometimes it feels futile to be making art in this cruel and extreme political climate,” she said, “but some of the brightest moments of the last few months for me and for a lot of you, I suspect, have come from seeing Janelle Monae’s amazing and positive vision of the future, especially when we are being introduced to so many possible dystopian futures. […] As a director, editor, creative director, I also feel like [this] is my strongest work and I can’t wait to share with ya’ll.”

The clip shows Grimes and Monae as apocalyptic samurai gladiator warriors in outer space, wearing a shit load of leather and vinyl. As for plot, it looks like we’ll have to wait for tomorrow.
