Billy Joe Armstrong of Green Day is not Justin Bieber, a fact that he made abundantly clear over the weekend at the iHeartRadio Music festival in Las Vegas, where the middle aged millionaire threw a temper tantrum on stage. He most certainly is not, I think we can all agree on that. Bieber is a professional who would never act l ike that on stage.

The incident came about because of an apparent dispute over the band’s set time.

“I’ve been around since ninety eighty fucking eight and you’re going to give me one minute?,” a visibly distraught Armstrong, surprisingly operating on stage without the assistance of a cane. “You’ve got to be fucking kidding me. What the fuck? I’m not Justin Bieber you motherfuckers. You’ve got to be fucking joking. This is a fucking joke. I’ve got one minute left. Now I’ve got nothing left.”

You’re kind of onto something with that last part.

You can watch the video of the ‘meltdown’ below. Apparently he’s not such a bad ass after all, as Armstrong has announced that he’s heading to rehab in the wake of the hissy fit. In a statement to the Associated Press, the band apologized, saying “its set was not cut short by Clear Channel, the host of the two-day festival.”  So for those keeping score, that’s saying you’re sorry, blaming your behavior on a substance abuse problem, and boot-licking the giant corporate mega-behemoth who paid you in one fell swoop. Punk rock will never die.
