A generous collection of NYC cool kids gathered at Mahiki (1 Dover Street) in London this past weekend to grace the city with some electric stateside energy. Hosted by GrandLife Hotels and My Beautiful City, the ‘This Is New York’ party (one of our favorite global fashion month bashes) featured endless libations and good vibrations within a Polynesian-inspired paradise.
The night kicked off with an exclusive set by DJ Tennessee Thomas, and was followed by back-to-back bangers provided by a handful of veteran New York Djs, including Harley Viera-Newton, The Misshapes, and the one and only Nancy Whang of LCD Soundsystem. The event’s notable hosts (Alexa Chung, Derek Blasberg, Susie Bubble, Tommy Ton and Tommy Saleh, to name a few) set a prime example by busting gratuitous moves on the dance floor throughout the night—especially when Mariah Carey’s “Heartbreaker” hit the speakers, courtesy of HVN.
In addition to a heavy-hitter host roster, the guest list was equally noteworthy. Model Dree Hemmingway, Vogue‘s Hamish Bowles, Elle‘s Kate Lanphear, DJ Mia Moretti, actress Atlanta De Cadenet, photographer Garance Dore and Unkle’s James Lavelle were all in the house to toast New York and London’s shared fashion week mantra: work hard, play harder.
