Festival goers may have not yet traded in their flower crowns this year, but the abundance of denim, black and leather looks at Governors Ball certainly balanced out the summer cliche. This season, overdone lace and fringe details were upgraded to ruffles and pleats, as modesty and practicality beat out the classic booty shorts and bikinis overwhelming Coachella.

The teen scene, however, didn’t quite get this memo. Flash tats, pastel hair and french braids were everywhere, while sundresses, sandals and scarves were abundant. Well done NYC, you looked great, and you even managed to pack your ponchos. A note to other festival goers: keep it simple, keep it chic and always wear waterproof makeup.
