After dropping a ton of hints over the last few months, Gorillaz are back with brand new music. This morning, the animated alt-electronic band released a music video, along with the new single, “Hallelujah Money.” Featuring UK artist Benjamin Clementine, the track tackles corporate greed, with Gorillaz bassist, Murdoc, calling it “a lightning bolt of truth in a black night.”
The dreamy pop ballad brings together the band’s signature take on electronica with Clementine’s belting vocals, creating the perfect anti-Trump anthem. The video, directed by the band with Giorgio Testi, is an apocalyptic take on politics in the Trump era—an electro-pop ode to fighting capitalist hunger. If there’s one good thing about The Donald, it’s the Gorillaz return.
