Gorgeous, Brilliant Alicia Keys Wears No Makeup, Sings Moving Poem on Equality at VMAs

In case you happened to have forgotten, Alicia Keys is the best. Her voice is insane, she’s a killer piano player, producer and lyricist, she’s effortlessly beautiful and her and Swizz Beatz seem like the coolest, most legit couple in the industry. Anyway, if you had forgotten that Alicia Keys is the best, she arrived at last night’s VMAs prepared to remind you.

First, on a red carpet full of contoured faces, underboob, nips, tucks and fillers, Keys opted to go makeup-free. Not only is that a bold move (most celebs won’t go to the grocery store without makeup, let alone an awards show), it also served to remind us how absurdly, naturally beautiful this woman is. Swizz, you a lucky dude.

But Keys didn’t merely attend the show, she also sang an original poem about equality in honor of the 53rd anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s history-altering “I Have a Dream” speech. It was incredible. She is incredible. Never forget. Watch it, here.
