“Godspeed,” I wrote a few months ago following the 2012 Pitchfork Music Festival. “They’re a very serious band.” What other introduction does the group’s new album, ALLEJUAH! DON’T BEND! ASCEND! need? I mean, look at that name, and that cover photo: It screams Big Things, not that you could expect their first record in a decade would’ve been anything less than a grand affair. Four songs, two of them twenty minutes long, all of them ready to carry you up on a current of wind into the post-rock sunset, filled with feelings and enough contemplative, yearning vibes to last a quarter-life crisis. You can stream the album here, courtesy of the Guardian; the album will officially be out in eight days, for those of you craving vinyl for such an experience.
