I arrived at Good Room with no guest list, late and hungry. I’d already missed Macy Rodman and Yves Tumor‘s sets, so I began chugging a tequila that I got for free from one of the cute bartenders. With familiar faces all around, I immediately whipped out my camera. Psychoegyptian was getting ready to go on stage and Alberto H. Arensberg (AHARAW) was pumped to DJ for Mykki Blanco. The energy was high, people were getting frisky on the dance floor and I was drunk. The candy red light warmly welcomed Psychoegyptian, that Bushwick kid making waves, and shit got real. By the number of nipples I saw, I knew it was a good party in a safe space with lovely turnt people. Then the magic of Mykki arrived with a set that felt like being inside the “Wavvy” music video, as people shared sweat and perhaps even a few tears.
Mykki Blanco’s new WOODKID-produced single, “High School Never Ends,” will premiere May 17 with a music video directed by Matt Lambert. The track will appear on Blanco’s forthcoming self-titled full-length album, slated for release later this year.
