“I’ve always been the kind of person to deal with loss by retreating into a place where I’m inaccessible,” Tyler Kershaw, of Boston’s dreamy indie pop act Funeral Advantage says of their latest “You Sat Alone.” “A place like sleeping/dreaming where no one can interrupt me processing these thoughts.”
“It’s a personality trait I’ve been working through and this song has a lot to do with dealing with that trait from the angle of anger,” he goes on. “From the standpoint of ‘On Death And Dying’, I get stuck in the second stage of grief and ‘You Sat Alone’ is about me spending eternity there.”
It sounds like a scary place to live, but if this is the soundtrack, it’s not all bad.
The band’s LP Body Is Dead is out August 28 on The Native Sound.
