This Sunday (August 28th), Spotify, the popular Swedish music streaming service, will continue their mission to take over the United States (and further prove once and for all that they are cooler than Pandora) by hosting another free concert at Mercury Lounge in New York. The latest (and possibly greatest) in the Spotify Presents Late Nights series features CANT (solo project of Chris Taylor – of Grizzly Bear and Terrible Records fame) and Blood Orange (current moniker of musician/writer/producer Dev Hynes a.k.a. Lightspeed Champion). The two will be touring together later this year to promote their upcoming albums – CANT’s “Dreams Come True” (September 13th) which traffics in Phil Collins-y vocals (I mean that as a compliment, really I do) over synth-pop beats and Blood Orange’s “Coastal Grooves” (August 30th) which sounds like the smoothest, most infectious 80’s album that never existed – until now, obviously. In other words, we’re anticipating a set list fit for the prom of our dreams.
The line forms at 9:00 and admission is first come, first served, based on capacity. All attendees will receive an invitation to join Spotify.
