Are You As Surprised As We Are By Freak City’s New R.A.P. Clothing Campaign Video?

The last time we wrote about our L.A. pals over at Freak City, things were looking decidedly dark (not that it’s a bad thing). Check out the video for “Fubu & Versace,” by crew member Old Young, and you’ll get an idea of what we mean. So when co-founder and ringleader Justin Time sent me the link to the campaign video for upcoming offerings from their Vally-Girl-designed R.A.P. clothing line, I was foolishly expecting more of the same lean-meets-mollyesque internet raver vibes the store/gallery/sometimes-club has become known for.

Instead, a much cleaner, more grown up vibe has emerged, and not grown-up-boring but more what you would wear to an opening or a house party. You’d also never know that the clothes are from L.A. just by looking at them (don’t lie, you know what I mean), which is frankly a compliment that not many West Coast labels deserve. Basically, just as we came to expect one thing from Freak City, the reflective high-tech fabrics, shiny vinyl overalls, and insect-xual cutaway jackets with removable sleeves and closable zipped vents have us feeling some different type a way.

We’ll be waiting patiently until the pieces hit the Freak City online shop on December 1st for timely holiday purchase.
