Frankie Muniz Disses President Obama With Trenchant #ObamaFail Hashtag

+

When’s the last time you thought about Frankie Muniz, former child star of Malcolm in the Middle? (I actually rewatched that show’s first season last year, so not too long ago. And it’s great!) Since quitting acting, Muniz has tried to blend in as Just Another Guy—he’s currently the drummer of a band called Kingsfoil, which has 5% of the Twitter followers as he does, and he also used to be a race car driver. But today, he hopped out of the crowd by posting a cutting critique of President Obama’s decision to name Susan Rice as his National Security Adviser despite the obvious protestations soon to follow. Rice, if you’ll remember, was one of the scapegoats in the fallout of the attack on the U.S. embassy in Benghazi—an event that contributed to her withdrawal from candidacy as Secretary of State, as the right refused to let up on what they saw was her obvious culpability. Muniz’s Twitter usually isn’t so political, but he couldn’t resist dropping a bit of analysis:

Is that not so beautiful? Is 2013 just the greatest year? Where child stars grown up wiry and bug-eyed can criticize the president using a hashtag; where #Fail counts as legitimate commentary; where those who think they know better spit a haughty “Wake up people” as though it’ll trigger the mental reawakening of the masses, like we’ve been living in the Matrix all along? Wake up people. #ObamaFail. Man, there is just so much to love about this Tweet. I’m going to re-embed it a few more times.
