When Frank Ocean emerged from hiding last week as a model in Calvin Klein‘s new campaign, the world began trying to figure out what the singer has been working on. After some hardcore research, one excited fan determined the answer and publicly shared his findings on Reddit. According to the source code of a since deleted Calvin Klein webpage, Ocean’s been writing his own book.
“He is known for being a perfectionist, and a pursuant of creativity in all forms,” reads the missing introduction. “He resists pressure and follows his own vision. He has published a magazine and worked on a novel while continuing to perfect his highly anticipated second album […] Ocean is a powerful storyteller, using his own openness and honesty to create an emotionally intimate world in each of his songs. With his craft, his aim is not money, power, or fame, but to grow, progress, evolve and eventually be the absolute best. So while he continues to work on that, we’ll continue to wait, as long as it takes, because when Frank Ocean does something, he does it right. The wait will be worth it.”
Rumors of a magazine have been circling the Internet since last year, when Ocean posted a photo of himself posing with a stack of glossies labeled Boys Don’t Cry, on his website. The “Thinkin Bout You” singer has also mentioned his plans to write, telling The Guardian in 2012 that he “just might write a novel next.” Ocean’s second album is finally slated for release sometime in July, but there’s no telling how long we’ll have to wait to read this mysterious novel. As the secret intro suggests, we’ll happily wait as long as it takes because the result will probably be worth it.
