Whoever Adult Swim hired to know about cool, exciting bands is definitely doing their job. Since its inception, the network’s singles series has consistently chosen to feature work from some of the most interesting artists working today, and this time around it’s no different. So far in the 2012 singles series we’ve heard pretty decent cuts from Unknown Mortal Orchestra and The Field, and the latest track to drop is by none other than spaced-out funk peddler Flying Lotus. The laid back “Between Friends” features guest verses from Captain Murphy (presumably from Adult Swim’s Sealab 2021) and Earl Sweatshirt, showing that Flying Lotus does know a little something about teenage up-and-coming rappers, just not Chief Keef. That’s a real shame though; just imagine how great it would be if the two did a track together. If we were lucky it would be about as good as the time that Dylan from Making the Band worked with Wyclef Jean.
