Ms. Grim and Proper’s beauty philosophy is simple, with a twist. Her base palette is au naturel—she wears minimal foundation and blush. She’s very old-fashioned in her beauty principles, and considers a flawless complexion her greatest asset. And, of course, she always remembers to moisturize (she swears by Embryolisse), and would never ever turn in for the night without removing all of her makeup.

For eyes, it’s all about neutral tones paired with a swipe of mascara, and a hint of a Madina stick for the cheekbones with a cupid’s bow to achieve a dewy glow. But beauty junkies, beware: this Pat McGrath favorite is only available in Italy (where she summers). Her supple, berry-stained lips, dark nails, and full brows are what keeps heads turning. For lips: line with a deep pencil and fill in with a lipstick, gloss, or stain. To achieve the bold eyebrow often seen in the collections of celebrated designers, use a brow pencil or a brow powder to fill in and define each arch. Hair should be simple and sleek, styled in a low chignon with a deep side part. The overall look is clean and defined with a touch of drama, making her look as classic as she dresses, with a semi-gothic flair.
