It’s an idea so simple I can’t believe no one else has thought of it yet. Since we’ve all been so busy sounding like unforgettable ’90s dreamers Mazzy Star, with our chill/dream/haze/beach bands that every single one of us is in now, we all totally neglected the obvious move here: actually covering Mazzy Star.
All of us except zeitgeist genius and Bristol producer extraordinaire Stumbleine, who’s released this cover of “Fade Into You” with vocals from LA’s Steffaloo (via). It manages to flatten out the haunting nature of the classic into something slightly dirtier and shambling and slower, which didn’t seem possible. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some old mixtapes from school and love letters to my first true love to go dig through for the next few hours. Check it out here.
