How quickly things change. One day, they’re waving wands, donning Sorting Hats and learning about dark magic; the next, they’re breaking into mansions and stealing diamond rings. Emma Watson might always be known as Harry Potter‘s Hermione Granger, but much like former Disney stars Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens in Spring Breakers, she’s decided to break out of that shell as explicitly as possible. In Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring, she plays a member of an amateur group of criminals who rob the homies of rich celebrities—based on the real life teenagers who did the same to Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, and a number of other stars a few years back. The trailer doesn’t give much away in terms of plot, but Coppola’s trademark pop art sensibilities are on display: the garish title cards, the glitzy material life, the total overtness of using Sleigh Bells to signify a RaGiNg GoOd TiMe. If Watson’s steadily ramped up her bad behavior in each new post-Harry Potter movie, she’ll probably kill a guy in her next role. It’s out on June 14.
