“One of my favorite things in the world is stripping down fully produced records and creating piano vocal renditions,” Elohim says. The LA-based artist, a classically-trained pianist, gives her song “Xanax” just that sort of treatment here in this live performance video, wiping aside all of the heavily effected vocals, percussion, and otherworldly sound effects, to situate the song back directly in the realm of the human heart.
The song, she says, “touches on the uncomfortable daily struggle of what feels like debilitating anxiety. It can be scary to share honesty but the reward far surpasses any of the fear.”
Check out the performance, and the original, below. “Xanax” comes from Elohim’s self-titled debut EP out now via B3SCI Records. The song was part of a street art campaign to promote awareness for mental health issues.
