“Anything Could Happen” suggests the video of the same name from twinkling lawn dew beauty Ellie Goulding. You could fall in love today, right now, with the next person who walks around the corner! Any second now. Did they come? OK, you could get an important email that lets you know about a life changing opportunity! Maybe not? That’s just the thing, you see, you don’t know what’s going to happen, unless you watch this video for the song, which reminds us that, oh yeah, we’re going to all fucking die, probably in a car crash, next to a dude with a sick back piece if we’re lucky. Didn’t see that twist coming when this exuberantly joyous song kicked off.
“I wanted to do a video that made people really think,” says Goulding in a release. “I wanted there to be a surreal aspect but also something very emotional and touching. The idea that so much can change in a single instant scares me and I like confronting my fears. Some people might find the video hard to watch because of how sad it is but I wanted it to be thought provoking!”
The track is off her second record Halcyon, which arrives in October, and I’m sure is going to be lovely, but unfortunately the odds of either of us being around by then to find out are pretty slim what with Death and his magical balloon ride to the sky lurking around every corner.
