The music of the bi-coastal dream-pop crush-wave band Dum Dum Girls is the sound of longing. Longing and reverb, that is, lots and lots of reverb, like on the stand out track “Coming Down” from their 2011 album Only In Dreams. The band, who kick off a tour in Brooklyn on July 21 before a spot at Lollapalooza in August, are set to drop their new EP End of Daze on Sub Pop in September. Dee Dee and Jules from the band previewed one of the new tracks, “Mine Tonight” for Rhapsody, in an acoustic session. It’s just as sad and pensive as we’ve come to expect, and stripped of the trademark bottom-of-a-well effects, that shines through even more. Based on the rest of the track titles from the EP, like “Season In Hell” and “I Got Nothing,” it sounds like we’re in for another bum out. That makes us very happy.
