Duble Meze Bar is the latest hot spot in Istanbul. Word of mouth made it so popular in less than a year that you now need to reserve a table in advance.
This bar was designed with the traditional Turkish tavern – the ‘meyhane’ – in mind. When Sultan Mehmed II conquered Istanbul, the city was renowned for its taverns. Locals still frequent them, whether it is a dive bar around the corner or a hip joint on the top floor of a luxury hotel. Duble is located on top floor of Palazzo Donizetti Hotel in Beyoğlu Pera, where it has a spectacular view of the old city (Golden Horn) and the best sunset ever.
The idea has always been to socialize through the night while sipping a double raki accompanied by delectable Turkish mezes. When designing Duble, the goal was to adapt this traditional means of socialization to today’s modern life. The venue and the menu appeals to all your senses so you can savor the moment with your friends, accompanied by light background music and a beautiful scenic view. Nostalgic Turkish classical music of the 60s and 70s and songs from the gramophone era blends with friendly conversation over a drink while you snack on the mezes. The indoor space flows naturally to the outside area. The bar runs through the establishment, showcasing a wide selection of cold mezzes and providing a place for people to be served.
If weather permits, you’ll really enjoy sipping your drink in a lounge chair on the terrace. During the summer, guests are invited to dine outside on the terrace by the barbecue grill. The menu offers a dizzying array of mezes – the choices include mildly spicy green pepper borani, stuffed mussels, grilled lamb andouillette on bruscheta (kokorech), steamed sea bass with oyster sauce rolled in Swiss chard, sautéed eggplant with dates, Armenian topik and many more.
