Everyone’s freaking out over the music in Stranger Things lately, but everyone knows the ’80s isn’t a fixed point in time—it’s a constantly evolving state of mind. That’s evident on “Breathe” from Jackson, MS-based Dream Cult, whose soaring retro-pop would fit seamlessly into the nostalgia-minded soundtrack.
“Breathe is about keeping your composure during times of stress and the inner struggle that comes along with that,” guitarist and vocalist Hayden Boyd says. “I also wanted to convey the importance of giving everything you’ve got to make a relationship work. We wanted the song to be upbeat and energetic but still have serious and relatable lyrics.”
“Breathe” comes from their debut LP Weekend. Hear more, here.
