NYC collective, Doom Dab, just dropped its debut compilation, Bad Mood, which highlights the record label’s aim to defy genre limitations by channeling everything from jungle to R&B, techno to house, rap to reggaetón. Featuring BULLETT favorites Thurmon Green, Jay Boogie, JX Cannon and Dick Van Dick, as well as Ahsh Eff, Xhosa, Stryker Matthews and more, Bad Mood is a free 16-track collection of original music from New York’s most exciting up-and-comers.
Stryker Matthews’ track, “Power Up,” and Chico Sonido‘s “Attracion Fatal,” are both throwbacks to the days of Dancehall Explosion, with electronic updates. Xhosa’s addition, “Brave,” is an ’80s-inspired trance track that showcases the singer’s lusty voice. Ahsh Eff offers “Staain,” a down-tempo hip-hop banger with a hypnotizing hook, and on “Windbreaker,” Prince Harvey nods to the “Amen” break with aggressive electronic drums and a fast flow—the perfect jungle mix.
