It’s often been said over the course of this already insane campaign season that Donald Trump is so far through-the-looking-glass that he’s grown impervious to parody. Apparently he’s also incapable of identifying it when he sees it. At least that’s what I think is going on here.
The embattled Republican frontrunner is coming off one of his worst weeks in a while, but this one doesn’t seem to be kicking off any better. He shared a video today on Twitter, apparently a fan-made campaign trailer, that is so bonkers it defies belief. Check it out:

In case you recognize the voiceover but can’t identify it, it’s Martin Sheen giving a speech from a Mass Effect video game trailer.
There’s so much going on here it’s hard to pick out just a few moments to highlight: the Hillary is a dog misogyny, or the inclusion of a somnolent Ben Carson for the big guest star role. At first blush you might think it’s just the corny, tone deaf, oblivious sincerity of a crazy Trump fan doing hacky collage work, but there are a few clues that make it seem like satire, a deftly played gag that has tricked Trump into endorsing a blatant troll job. It wouldn’t be the first time Trump reflexively tweeted something that looked like praise on the surface but was a troll.

Or the inclusion of a Trump protester with a “KKK endorses” t shirt on at 1:39.
It’s a combination of a deadly-serious disaster film trailer, and the Nathan For You intro. “I graduated from one of Canada’s top business schools with really good grades. Now I’m using my knowledge to help struggling countries be great again.”
I’d say there’s nowhere to go from here, but it’s clear this thing has no bottom.
