Since most of the 4th of July traffic we’ll be encountering today is via the liquor store parking lot (and these cocktails aren’t going to drink themselves), you’re probably doing as little reading as we are writing today. That said, if you’re scrambling for last-minute relevance because twelve of your friends already did the A$AP Rocky flag-background thing, we’ve got you covered.
When I saw NYC resident Adrienne Berlin’s DIY money manicure pop up on her Instagram, I had to ask her how she made it happen; after all, what better way to show your independence than to cut real money into tiny pieces? Berlin, who had a gel overlay to begin with (helpful but not necessary; read our recent how-to if you want your natural-nailed mani to last), snipped pieces out of a $1 bill, and pressed them onto a barely-dry layer of topcoat using tweezers. After carefully pressing them down flat, you should apply 2 more layers of clear coat to ensure your nails’ financial security. For the #trustpunk version, just tell “the help” to use a different hundred dollar bill for each nail.
Tweet us your Independence Day antics this afternoon @BullettMedia, or if you’re just chilling out at home in the AC, catch up on any of our recent articles you may have missed while enjoying a refreshing “Constitini”, i.e. any flaming libation lit with the burning pages of the Constitution. Ahhhhh. Tastes like freedom.
