Dirty Projectors frontman Dave Longstreth’s voice isn’t for everyone, but let there be no lingering doubt that he can sing the shit out of a song. The band appeared on an Australian radio show to perform a cover of Usher’s “Climax,” with which they actually share a degree of separation; that song is produced by Diplo, who also worked with DP guitarist Amber Coffman. And though the host was surprised they’d choose the song to cover, it’s not the first time they’ve mixed up R&B with art rock. (Should we call it… ART&B? Haha, no, of course not, never, never call it that.) Anyway, it’s just a supremely bitching cover, the band’s four singers layering over each other a haunted chorus. Listen to it once and then twice and then a lot more. Happy Friday!
