American Horror Story and Glee director Ryan Murphy recruited 49 celebrities in a new video to honor the victims of Orlando’s Pulse Nightclub shooting. A collaboration with the Human Rights Campaign, “Stop the Hate” shows photos of all the victims, while stars including Lady Gaga, Caitlyn Jenner, Laverne Cox, John Stamos and Gerard Butler, share their names one-by-one and recount anecdotes from their friends and family.
The video asks viewers to sign a petition urging legislators to change gun laws that will ensure the safety of the LGBTQ community. The campaign also allows people to send messages directly to Congress. “For too long, a toxic combination of anti-LGBTQ hate and easy access to guns has put LGBTQ people at disproportionate risk of violence and murder,” it reads. “We can’t let another day pass without action.”
