In the market for a t-shirt that let’s the world know you’re super fashion but also a proud feminist and that you also love Rihanna and you’re probably also super rich? At last, Dior has you covered. The most Instagram-friendly item from Maria Grazia Chiuri’s first collection for Dior, this “We should all be feminists” t-shirt will reportedly retail for $710. Today, Dior announced that it will donate a percentage of the proceeds from each sale to The Clara Lionel Foundation, Rihanna’s non-profit.
Rihanna, who recently accepted the Harvard Humanitarian of the Year award looking like a bona fide badass, showed love for the T and the fashion house on her Instagram a couple weeks back.
So how are we feeling about this? Of course we wholeheartedly support the item’s slogan, which is lifted from an essay by novelist Chimamanda Ngozi and supporting RiRi’s charity, which works to ensure everyone has access to basic education, is obviously great. That being said, the shirt’s baffling price tag renders it simply unobtainable for most of us. And it’s hard not to be skeptical of the phrase “a percentage of the proceeds.”
Bottom line is if you have $710 lying around and you want to support Rihanna’s charity, you’re better off just donating it… But the question remains: if you donate to Rihanna’s charity and you don’t have a feminist Dior t-shirt to commemorate the act, did you even donate at all?!
