TV nerds everywhere were shitting in their coffee mugs, or whatever sort of reference to Twin Peaks would make sense there, when it was announced a few months back that the series would be making a return to Showtime with David Lynch once again at the helm. Apparently all the excitement was for naught, as the director announced over the weekend that he was backing out.
“This weekend I started to call actors to let them know I would not be directing. Twin Peaks may still be very much alive at Showtime,” he tweeted.
“After 1 year and 4 months of negotiations, I left because not enough money was offered to do the script the way I felt it needed to be done,” he added.
The series may continue without Lynch, although it remains up in the air at the moment.
