Want to feel old? Consider the fact that MTV’s Daria premiered 20 years ago. Yeah, I know. In honor of the seminal cartoon’s anniversary, co-creator Susie Lewis teamed up with character designer Karen Disher to figure out what the Lawndale High gang might look like today. The results are pretty spectacular — for example, Trent Lane is still trying to make his band Mystik Spiral happen, living in Queens, and bartending on the side. Quinn has three boys, hair extensions, and a YouTube channel, because of course she does. And Daria’s the only female writer on a late-night talk show as well as mother to a black cat named Godzilla (one could argue that she basically became 30 Rock‘s Liz Lemon). All’s well that ends well, I guess.
“It had been a long time since I watched the show, but this brought back such great memories and reminded me of how much fun it was to create Daria,” Lewis told Entertainment Weekly, where you can watch a video of the cast’s transformation into what sound like mostly functional adults. Lewis also mentioned to EW that she’d love to bring Daria back to TV, which is something I fully support, no matter how old it makes me feel.
